About this wiki

How to Fish Wiki is an independent, fan-built reference for the Steam game How to Fish. Every page is written from sources that were opened and read, and every figure carries the date it was checked.

What this site is

A fan-made wiki covering How to Fish, the 1-4 player physics based fishing game from Dazed Games. It is not affiliated with the developer and carries no official status.

The goal is narrow: answer the question a player actually typed into a search box, with facts that can be traced back to where they came from.

How pages are researched

Each page starts from one search query. Sources are collected before anything is written: the Steam store page and its API, Steam community guides and discussions, patch announcements, established games media, community wikis, and gameplay videos with transcripts.

A source only counts if its full text was opened and read. Search result snippets are treated as leads, never as evidence. When a source cannot be reached, the gap is recorded rather than filled with a guess.

Anything that changes — prices, player counts, patch behaviour, speedrun routes — is published with the date it was checked and the patch version where one applies.

Where numbers come from

Item prices, boss lure costs and shop tiers come from community guides and were recorded during co-op runs, so solo prices can differ slightly. They are labelled with a check date because patches move them.

Achievement names and counts come from the Steam global achievement page. Release date, supported languages, system requirements and the base price come from the Steam store API.

Island names are used instead of island numbers throughout, because sources number them inconsistently.

What this site will not do

It will not invent numbers, item names or routes to fill a gap. A page that lacks evidence says so.

It will not host or link executable downloads, and it does not claim any third-party file is safe.

Corrections

If a figure is wrong or a patch has changed something, corrections are welcome — see the contact page. Include the page, the claim and where the better information came from, and it will be checked against the source.
